Training of Genetic Eng & Plant tissue culture for Nelson Mandela Phd and Msc. students, the training was conducted by Dr. Joseph Ndunguru officer Incharge at MARI and this is one of the objective of the Project, where as Mikocheni Agricultural Research Institute will give training to students, researchers, lab technicians from other institution to full fill the Project objective,the aim of these training is to equip the students to acquire the practical knowledge on Genetic Engineering and Plant tissue culture.
Dr. Ndunguru is explaining to students how to use equipments in the laboratory.

Monthly tea gathering at Mikocheni Agricultural research institute was opened by Officer Incharge Dr. Joseph Ndunguru, where he welcomed the new staff, giving out publication awards to researchers and giving out t -shirt to students who have been in field attachment from Oulu University department of Applied Science in Finland, monthly gathering this is a way of putting together workers and explain their achievement.

Cassava Breeding Community of practice in Africa (COP) is a community of Sub - Saharan Cassava breeders formed by breeders from west, central and eastern.The main focus of the community is on utilization of molecular breeding techniques in improving cassava production. The annual meeting was held in Ethiopia and organized by the Hawasa agricultural research Institute in collaboration with IITA.MARI was represented by Dr. Fred Tairo.

MARI TEAM PARTICIPATING IN AGRICULTURAL SHOW AT NZUGUNI SHOW GROUNDS -DODOMA TANZANIA

Each year MARI team participate in agricultural shows to disseminate research results to stakeholders. In 2013  two teams from Mari are participating in agricultural shows one in Dodoma, central Tanzania and another one in Morogoro region, on eastern part of Tanzania. The technologies disseminated include diagnostic tools, tissue culture, IPM, and post harvest. Stakeholders targeted include farmers, researchers, policy makers, media, students and general public.

Technical backstopping in Kigali, the training was on cassava viruse disease surveys and diagnostics to Rwandan team at Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB) in Kigali - Rwanda, the training was attended by country team leader Marie claire, Mr. Gervais Gashaka, Ms Marie Mutumwika, Ms. cansilde Mukanyana and Ms. Jeanine Upfuyisoni, MARI was represented by Dr. Peter Sseruwagi and Deogratius Mark.
